The 2024 Clinical Fellowship Program

Supporting the next generation of researchers in breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Trials (BCT) is pleased to present an opportunity for up to six Clinical Fellowships in 2024, to contribute to the scientific and clinical conduct of the BCT research program, as well as build capacity within BCT

These positions will provide an exciting opportunity for an early career researcher to be funded in a part-time capacity (1-2 days per week) for a one-year term, with a second-year application possible. The Fellowships will commence in January 2024.

About the Role

In this role, Fellows work on projects that are directly relevant to BCT. This will potentially involve:

  • Research areas of future trials including background and pilot work to be outlined by the applicant in the application
  • Work on existing or future BCT clinical trials
  • Further analysis of results of existing trials
  • Participate in trial meetings to drive the research as directed by our strategy

The fellow is expected to attend the BCT Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) and may be invited to attend other BCT meetings.

About the Fellow

To be considered for a Fellowship, applicants will have:

  • Qualifications and be working in one of the following disciplines:
    • Medical Oncology
    • Pathology
    • Psychology and other supportive care specialties
    • Radiation Oncology
    • Radiology
    • Surgery
  • A high level interest in clinical research
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High level written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently, motivate others, and stimulate cooperation amongst stakeholders
  • Competent computing skills that are relevant to clinical research projects and programs

Application

Applications for a Fellowship must be made by the Supervisor of the proposed Fellow and should be submitted to Jenny Melville – People, Performance and Culture Business Partner. Submit the application form below.

To allow the selection committee to assess the scientific merit, feasibility and relevance to BCT activities, the application must include the following:

  • Applicant CV
  • Supervisor’s CV
  • Confirmed timetable of days allocated to the project
  • Description of proposed project or area of research focus. This should be a maximum of two A4 pages and should cover:
    • Background
    • Hypothesis/Aims
    • Method/Strategy
    • Milestones/Expected outcomes

Applications close 9am, 4 September 2023.

BCT will announce successful Fellows on 20 September 2023.
