THE DIARY THAT SUPPORTS WOMEN EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR

When Elaine Freeman purchased her Australian Women’s Health Diary last year, as she had done for the past ten years, she knew she was supporting breast cancer research. However, she never suspected that she would personally benefit from the research the diary supports.

Just one month later Elaine discovered a lump in her breast and soon after was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 49. This came as a huge shock to her and to her family.

“Having always followed a very fit and healthy lifestyle, my diagnosis came as a huge shock to me and all my family. How could I get cancer when I was always exercising and doing what was ‘right’ for my body? But cancer doesn’t discriminate,” Elaine says.

The sale of the Australian Women’s Health Diary raises funds for the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia. Since 1999, the diary has raised over $12.2 million for breast cancer clinical trials research to help identify new treatments and prevention strategies.

To treat her breast cancer, Elaine had a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation treatment. She’s now taking the hormonal treatment Tamoxifen.

Tamoxifen is a drug that was proven through clinical trials to be successful in preventing recurrence in women who have been treated for hormone-sensitive breast cancer.

“I would encourage everyone to buy this wonderful diary and support breast cancer clinical trials research. You just never know who you might be helping”.
