THERE’S A MOMENT IN EVERY WOMAN’S BREAST CANCER STORY

When she is faced with the possible loss of her dreams, her plans, or even her life. It’s when her doctor says “you have breast cancer”, “your breast cancer has spread” or “your treatment’s not working any more”.

In that woman’s darkest and most frightening moment, you can be there – to make sure her doctor has some good news to follow the bad.

You can do it by making a donation each month to fund Breast Cancer Trials research. Clinical trials are the crucial step that turns laboratory breakthroughs into new treatments and cures for every woman diagnosed or at risk of breast cancer.

With a regular monthly gift to Breast Cancer Trials, you can make sure women in Australia can access the world’s best and latest breast cancer treatments.

Month by month, clinical trial by clinical trial, woman by woman, you can end the devastating toll that breast cancer still takes.

You can be there to save her plans for the future, her dreams and her life.

MEET MALEA, WHOSE SONS WERE 6 AND 8 WHEN SHE WAS DIAGNOSED

She loves her boys fiercely. In the sickening moment she learned she had breast cancer, her thoughts went to them.

“I cried all weekend after the diagnosis. I was afraid of dying. I didn’t want to leave my children.”

Facing that mountain of fear and her own mortality, Malea underwent several rounds of chemotherapy treatment and had her breasts, ovaries and fallopian tubes removed.

She found out she carries the BRCA2 genetic mutation, which meant she was always at higher risk of getting breast cancer. It also meant she may have passed the mutation onto her kids.

“With the BRCA2 gene mutation, the idea that our boys could be affected seemed so unfair.”

BREAST CANCER TURNS LIVES UPSIDE DOWN AND DESTROYS HOPES, DREAMS AND PLANS FOR THE FUTURE

Breast cancer still takes lives, ends dreams, and causes too many women physical and psychological hardship.

We need treatments that provide certainty for the 56 people diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia every day. We need treatments for women like Malea, who lives in fear of breast cancer recurrence and is uncertain about her future.

“What if it comes back? That’s my silent fear. And do I have options? The first time around I had treatments available, I just need to be reassured there will be more treatments for me.”

ONLY clinical trials research can bring about life-saving solutions. It is the critical step that turns laboratory breakthroughs into new treatments and cures for breast cancer.
