About Professor Boon Chua

Professor Boon Chua is a highly skilled and experienced Radiation Oncologist and a Professor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales and serves as Consultant Radiation Oncologist and Director of Cancer and Haematology Services at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney.

Specialising in breast cancer, she leads a growing program of grant-funded, academic oncology research in collaboration with cooperative clinical trials groups globally. With a primary focus on cancer treatment, Professor Chua offers her expertise in delivering targeted radiation therapy to patients.

She is the study chair of the Breast Cancer Trials EXPERT clinical trial, which aims to improve personalised use of radiation therapy in early breast cancer patients by using a genomic test to identify women who can safely avoid this treatment after surgery and the possible side effects.

Professor Boon Chua has played a key role in the ANZ 1601/BIG 16-02 EXPERT clinical trial, and Breast International Group (BIG), acting as Chief Investigator of the BIG 3-07/TROG 07.01 DCIS  randomised trial. She represents the Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) as a voting member to its General Assembly and has served on the BIG Executive Board since 2017.
